Piles of mine tailings dot the rocky hillside above Silver Plume, a mining community west of Georgetown in Clear Creek County, Colorado. Numerous wood frame buildings stand along the dirt streets of the town. A log rail fence borders the properties in the foreground adjacent to where a railroad track runs.
